Streatham Wells International Day
A celebration of the tapestry of children we have in our community.
It was lovely to see Streatham Wells Primary School celebrating International Day - a celebration of the tapestry of children we have in our community. They represent 19 different languages, 37 different countries and 5 different religions!
There is power in a diverse and inclusive community - we are stronger together. It supports an enriching learning environment for children, promoting both personal and academic growth. Acknowledging and celebrating diversity goes beyond representation, and also involves fostering understanding, empathy, and respect among students and staff.
To celebrate, children wore clothing to represent their heritage, whatever that means to them. Some wore colours from their flags, some wore traditional clothing, some wore sports kits demonstrating their heritage.
To celebrate, we had a Big International Day Quiz, which had questions ranging from History, to Geography, to Music and language. It was great fun! I wonder if you’d get all the questions right? Test your child (and yourselves!) with the following questions:
- Where did the Olympics originate?
- Which country is famous for its cherry blossoms?
- Where did the civil rights movement of the 1960s start?
- Phnom Penh is the capital of which country?
- What 3 languages is this song sung in?
